ACORN has been approved by the International Problem Gambling and Gaming Certification Organization (IPGG) and the Mental Health & Addiction Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO) to provide continuing education courses. Additionally, ACORN has been approved by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7274. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. ACORN is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.

National Leader

ACORN is quickly becoming a national leader in providing online courses on sociocultural attunement for family therapists, counselors, social workers, and psychologists. Presenters and contributors include, among others, master therapists and critical scholars—Drs. Teresa McDowell, Carmen Knudson-Martin, & J. Maria Bermudez—who have written numerous books and articles on this topic, including Socioculturally Attuned Family Therapy: Guidelines for Equitable Theory and Practice (2023). Their innovative approach to diversity, equity, and inclusion introduces the concept of third order thinking, which refers to connecting the dots between broad systems of systems and our everyday lives, including our most intimate relationships.
