This webinar reviews the national data on the extent of gambling disorder among patients in Opioid Treatment Programs. The webinar additionally explores trends in Oregon based on a study conducted in 2022. Lastly, the webinar seeks to answer the following questions: How is gambling being addressed in OPT programs in Oregon? And, how can our system assist in building greater awareness on the effects of gambling disorder and problematic gambling behavior on OTP patients’ recovery?

Dr. Jeff Marotta, Ph.D., ICGC-II is an internationally known expert in the area of problem gambling service development, with over 100 publications and national presentations. Dr. Marotta brings a unique knowledge and skill set to PGS from his experience as a Clinical Associate Professor and researcher, an Internationally Certified Gambling Counselor-II, and a state administrator.

Senior Instructor Rick Berman

Rick Berman, MA, LPC, CADC III, CGAC II specializes in integrated treatment of co-occurring mental health and addictive disorders. He trained and supervised addictions and mental health counselors for more than 20 years. In recent years his work focused more specifically on problem gambling. He has presented at national problem gambling conferences in Canada and the United States. He is the past coordinator of Lewis & Clark’s Problem Gambling Services and instructed Gambling Counselor Pre-Certification Courses for many years.
