Presenters

Instructor Timothy Bowman

Timothy “Tim” Bowman, PWS, has had a diverse and impactful career in the justice field, including emergency operations dating back to 1972, with his extensive experience spanning Los Angeles County and the surrounding communities. Tim relocated to the Pacific Northwest in 2018 and has displayed a consistent commitment to community service since arrival. At the young age of 70, Tim came out of retirement to pursue a new chapter in his recovery, which included getting his Peer Wellness Specialist Certificate and his CRM II. His lived experience with mental health and substance use challenges, combined with his certifications, allowed him to support the Older Adult community with compassion and empathy while working at the Mental Health & Addiction Association of Oregon. His current role in helping others through the Older Adult Behavioral Health Initiative in Multnomah County shows his dedication to making a real difference in people's lives.

Instructor Geoff Moser

Geoff Moser, BS, PWS (he/him) identifies as a person in long-term recovery from both substance misuse and mental health challenges. For two decades, Geoff used alcohol and other substances to cope with long-term mental health concerns. Like so many of us, this behavior led to a pattern of negative consequences and near-death experiences. Geoff considers June 25th, 2015, as the day he decided to live his life without alcohol and other drugs, and to proactively deal with his mental health challenges using a combination of healthy coping skills, medications, therapy, healthy diet, and regular exercise. Geoff has been working in the Peer Delivered services field for 8+ years now and absolutely loves supporting others as they find their way to becoming healthier versions of themselves. He is someone who believes that recovery is an open-minded process that is unique to each individual pursuing it.
